Hi Everyone,
I have some very good news to report. Last week (Wednesday) I received a phone call from the New England Innocence Project (NEIP) saying they are taking Michael's case. What does this mean and what does it not mean? It does not mean that they will be representing Michael at this time. Michael has a fine lawyer that has done an outstanding job in preparing Michael's brief for his appeal to the Massachusetts Appellate Court. What it does mean is that NEIP has assigned a law student/intern reporting to a lawyer at NEIP that will be reviewing and doing research on Michael's case. This is a very, very positive development and a great first step. I have spoken to the law student assigned to Michael's case and we are corresponding through email. NEIP has already read Michael's trial transcripts and said there are issues with the case. In addition Michael's Mother has forwarded to NEIP a copy of Michael's Discovery, his Brief, and his Appendix. I have sent them a copy of the fifty-five (55) page synopsis I did on Michael's trial transcripts. There is much work to be done but I am very excited and enthused by the work they have done to date and the questions they are asking. I talked with Michael on Saturday and he is very excited about this development. This is just another example of the positive developments that are happening with Michael's case. There will still be some ups and downs we must face in the future but we should keep our hopes up, remain positive and be thankful God is watching over Michael. For Michael's Mother and myself we thank you all so very much for your prayers and wonderful support. Please keep praying and sending Michael cards and letters and signing his Guest Book. Justice will be served.
My heartfelt gratitude to all of you.
